Although Confederate Memorial Day in North Carolina is celebrated on May 10th, the Pamlico Chapter #43 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in conjunction with the Washington Grays Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy celebrated Confederate Memorial Day on May 8, 2004.
As a part of this year's ceremony, Louis W. Martin, Jr., a local historian. author of Beaufort County Heroes 1861-1865, and member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans gave an inspiring talk about the men who served from Beaufort County.
Remembrances were also given in honor of members of the Pamlico Chapter #43 who had recently passed away.
